Problem Management

Problem Management function is responsible for investigation of underlying causes of incidents and attempts to prevent incidents of a similar nature from recurring.

The following are some of the states of an incident:

• Incident : An event that affects the normal operation of an IT service.


• Problem : A problem may exist, if there several incidents can be investigated and are found to have a common underlying cause.


• Known Error : A problem with a known cause
